Biographical Sketch:
Author, newpaper editor and historian, M. Juliette Judy Magee was born in 1921. She married Alfred J. (Pat) Magee. The couple had three children, Mike Magee, Ava Magee, and Gross Magee. Judy and Pat owned and ran numerous newspapers including the Weekly Advance (La Center), Ballard Yeoman (Wickliffe), News Press (Mounds, IL), Livingston Ledger (Smithland, KY), Carlisle Journal (Bardwell), and the Commercial Press printing shop in Cairo, IL. She published numerous books including Cavern of Crime, Ballard's Brave Boys, Old Fort Jefferson and many historical and genealogical books.
Description:
M. Juliette Magee speaks of the Hayden/Rickman Family history. She remembers the 1937 flood, moving belongings, moving and caring for livestock, affects on where people lived and foods supplied by the American Red Cross. She also mentions her first experience with grapefruit.
