The 10-story building at 333 Broadway in Paducah (KY) was known as western Kentucky’s first skyscraper when it was completed in 1912. From its beginning, it has been home to banking institutions. The first was City National Bank, an early relative of the longest resident, Citizens Bank and Trust, which served the Paducah community for more than 110 years. It merged with Mercantile Bancorporation in 1998, becoming Firstar and most recently US Bank. Over its 100-plus years, the building, known throughout much of the 20th century as simply the “Citizens Bank building,” is also known for its iconic clock on the corner of the building at 4th and Broadway. Both have become Paducah landmarks. Over the years, the tenants of the upper floors of the building have included doctors, lawyers, accountants, life insurance agencies, real estate agencies, architects, engineers and non-profits. Now, with the most recent bank tenant, US Bank, leaving its downtown location, the bank has shared memorabilia and photographs from Citizens Bank and Trust, spanning much of its century of operation. This digital collection represents a small selection of items now housed in the McCracken County Public Library Archives.
