Ora Mae Simpson was raised in Ballard County, Kentucky. She married Albert Simpson and the couple resided in Mounds, IL with their children, Evelyn P. Simpson and Harold Simpson.
Description:
Ora Mae Simpson talks about attending the one-room school in the Ragland community, school term, teachers, number of students, lunches, water supply, daily activities, and pie suppers. She mentions the churches in Ragland and the general store. Mrs. Simpson also talks about threshing crews, describes the cook wagon for threshing crews and foods served. She gives a discription of the methods of canning, containers used, curing and smoking meat.
