Biographical Sketch:
Fiddle player and farmer, Rube Rowland Elrod, was born December 14, 1899 to William H. Elrod and Mattie G Elrod. He married Emily Elnora Cummins Elrod in Charleston, MO on January 31, 1942. He died on July 11, 1981 and was buried in Mount Pleasant Church Cemetery in La Center, KY.
Description:
Rube Elrod recalls what he was told about the river boat (City of Pittsburg) fire. He remembers the one-room school (Stone Hollow) he attended, grades, length of school term, and number of students. He also comments on the community of Ingleside, businesses, and the Burnley Store. Mr. Elrod plays several tunes on the violin and one on a guitar.
