Byrd; Paducah, Kentucky; Born at Paducah, Ky., September 8, 1888; Son of William and Emily Byrd; Entered Engineering Corps, Railway Unit, Heavy Equipment July 17, 1917; Sailed for France December 26, 1917. At training camp at Brest, France. From Brest was sent to Toule. Hauled supplies to Chateau Thierry. After this battle was attached to a division of the French Army. At Conflaus, France, at the time the armistice was signed.

Hazelip; Entered Service Septemeber, 1917; Made Sergeant-Major of 309th Supply Train at Camp Taylor until spring of 1918. Moved to Camp Sherman. Was placed in convoy service transporting trucks from Buffalo, N. Y., and other points to Baltimore, Md. Then sent to Camp Mills, N. Y. Sailed September 16, 1918.
