Second Lieut. Edward R. Miller Jr.; Paducah, Kentucky; Born at Wickliffe, Ky., November 24, 1895; Son of Sue Ella and Edward R. Miller; Volunteered for Infantry April 25, 1917; Stationed at Fort Thomas, Ky., until January 5, 1918, on special clerical duty. January 5, 1918, assigned to Officers' Training School, Camp Sherman, Ohio, until April 19, 1918, when he was assigned to Fort Thomas, Ky. May 15, 1918, assigned Officers' Training School Camp Grant, Ill. Commissioned Second Lieutenant of Infantry August 26, 1918, and assigned to 161st Depot Brigade, Camp Grant. Honorably discharged January 17, 1919.

Elbridge Palmer; Paducah, Kentucky; Born at Paducah, Ky., August 2, 1894; Son of Mary V. and Elbridge Palmer; Volunteered for Aviation Department of Army; August 15, 1917; Took his ground training at Princeton, N. J. Immediately upon graduation was sent to Richfield, Waco, Texas, for his flying. There he made the record for altitude and won his commission on March 27, 1918. Was ordered to Girstner Field, Lake Charles, La., for advanced flying. Upon his graduation was appointed instructor in aerial gunnery, which place he held until his honorable discharge in January 1919.
