S. 8 1/2 on John Gilbert, 1" + 2 " Rapidan Quickstep Armada Argonant." (JOHN GILBERT (Way #3066), RAPIDAN (Way #4682), QUICKSTEP (Way #4621), ARMADA (Way #0358), ARGONAUT NO.2 (Way #T0157)) Mark Skinner was born June 1, 1860 in Eddyville, Lyon County, Kentucky and lived the majority of his younger life at Birmingham, Marshall County, KY. He later married Dora Locker on April 21, 1890 in Marshall County, KY. The couple is listed in Caron's Paducah City Directory as living in the rear of the 1300 block of South 3rd St. in Paducah Kentucky from 1912-1936. The 1939 directory list them at 1310 South 9th St. Mr. Skinner died September 6, 1939 and is buried in Oak Grove Cemetery. Mark also appears in Mary Wheeler's book, Steamboatin' Days ,on page 82 and is responsible for the song, Ohio Rivuh, She's So Deep an' Wide.
