Title:
Rev. Timus Taylor
Biographical Sketch:
The Reverend Timus Taylor was born December 16, 1935, in Paducah, KY, where he graduated from Augusta Tilghman High School. He spent six months as a Page in the U.S. House of Representatives in Washington, D.C. in 1949 because, as he said, his cousin was a congressman. Attending Vanderbilt in Nashville, TN, he met the love of his life, Mary Ready Weaver Parrent of Belle Meade. They were married in 1957, and Tim began moving around educationally, next to the University of North Carolina for a summer; to the Episcopal Seminary in Alexandria, VA; to the University of Louisville (where he studied law); and to the Yale School of Divinity for a year. Along the way he was inducted into the U.S. Air Force, where he was put in charge of special projects at Lackland Air Force base in Texas, and he also got a counseling license. Tim was ordained at Washington National Cathedral in 1964 and began a life of serving churches, first in Washington, D.C. His travels also took him to Maryland, California (Hollywood), Illinois, Missouri and finally to Nashville where he has been part of the clergy at St. George’s Episcopal Church in Belle Meade since 1993. In Paducah, Tim served Grace Episcopal for many years, and while there, organized and became the first director of the Paducah Cooperative Ministry in 1975. PCM serves the less fortunate by combining the resources of community churches and individuals. Tim and Mary Ready had two children—Mary Virginia Taylor McKay and Timus Stephen Cameron Taylor. Mary Ready passed away in 2022.
