Biographical Sketch:

Oscar Cross was born on August 10, 1906 in Fulton, KY too Rev. Price Cross and Mattie Cross. He married Dorenda Anderson Cross in 1945. Mr. Cross worked in minstrel shows and as a hotel attendent before becoming the first African American juvenile officer in Paducah, KY and founded the Boys Club of Paducah in 1949 for African American boys. He served as director for 50 years and is credited as a leader in bringing about the first interracial board of directors of the Boys Club in Paducah, Inc. The club was renamed the Oscar Cross Boys Club of Paduca, in 1980. Oscar Cross died on April 20, 1999 and is burried in Oak Grove Cemetery.
