"GENERAL LLOYD TILGHMAN STATUE, Fountain Ave. Paducah, Kentucky, General Lloyd Tilghman, soldier and railroad builder, was a resident o Paducah from 1852-1861. He was a native of Maryland. A Captain in Kentucky Guards at the beginning of the Civil War, he joined the Confederate cause. He was captured at the Battle of Fort Henry in 1862, later exchanged and killed in defense of Vicksburg, Mississippi."
